Community Benefit Already Showing

Before a nail has been hammered or a brick has been layed, we are already providing benefit to the local Masai communities - a special bonus we did not anticipate so quickly! The village near the school is using the new road to get to school every day instead of having to go cross country, and the ladies of the village who walk 2 km each way, every day, to get water, with buckets on their heads, can now use the road as well. It has also improved their access to medical facilities and the main road for public transport when needed.

And as we get into the project in detail now, the ideas keep coming. The construction project is providing some work for the local villagers and we hope to collaborate with them to grow crops and vegetables for the school. Maybe in time that might also extend to maintaining a goat herd for food as well. And the latest development is that we are hoping to be able to share the new 2km water pipline infrastructure for the school with the village. That will be a huge benefit for them, not only for human water use but maybe also to improve their farming outcomes. We also expect that the school students will be able to provide classes for the villagers either at the school or in the village itself and we will encourage integration with them through social events and sports. This is already better than we had hoped for!

Here's the new road. 2.5 km from the nearest public road. Quite an achievement!

Off to school - so much easier now, even when the road is only half finished!
Thank you so much for the road!
