Our Project

Brainy Heroes Boys Secondary School is a well-established school - respected and highly placed in the national schools’ academic performance rankings. It is a middle school (Forms 1 to 4) and all the students board there. Parents prefer to keep their children off the streets and public schools do not have the option of boarding. All lessons, except Swahili, are taught in English and the boys are well disciplined, extremely respectful and polite. They know that education will give them a greater opportunity in life.

Sadly, the rented premises they currently operate from are not being maintained by the owner and are now woefully inadequate and in dire need of repair. With 220 students now on its roll and increasing every year, the only real prospect for the school continuing to grow, thrive and become a sustainable success story is to build a new school funded with donations. â€‹

The school’s three directors Mr Jacob Paul Matasha, Mr Kwaeslema Lazaro Ng’aida, and Mr Yaledi Elisha Kuta, purchased a block of land for $US 33,000 in 2018, using their own savings, pension money, and a loan but they don’t have the ability to raise the funds required for the buildings. â€‹

That is why we are spearheading this project and have set up a registered charity in Australia called the Home for the Heroes Foundation to raise funds for the school. In Tanzania, we have also created a Non-Government Organization (NGO) called “Smiling Future Organization” – Registration No ooNGO/R/6917 so that the school can legally receive overseas funding.

The three founders’ land will be absorbed into the NGO we have established and by law it cannot be returned to them (a true indication of their commitment to the school). Neither can the school be sold once it is built.

Our intention is to raise upfront funds as quickly as possible with an expectation of building the school within two years. This timeframe will not only help to contain costs through eliminating rent payments but provide an expedient solution to alleviate the school’s current poor working and living conditions.

This means that we will be canvassing potential donors for a ONCE ONLY contribution, and when the funding target is reached, work on the new buildings will begin.

Once the boys school is established in the new location, the school’s next goal is to build another campus to house a boarding school for girls. The 3 founders of the school all have daughters, and the Headmaster’s daughter has just started at a girl’s boarding school (Form 1-4).

So please, if you feel you can, please help us help the school. You will be investing in improving the lives of students and the economic and social development of Tanzanian communities.
